a school we have a responsibility to ensure our programmes
reflect educational research and practice.
In 2008 we are involved in the first year of a two year
Literacy Professional Development Programme (LPDP) which
will focus on the teaching of reading and in particular the
teaching of reading comprehension.
We plan our professional development carefully and use assessment
information to inform our programmes. The reading assessment
information collected in 2008 showed our students were doing
well in reading as a group however there is always room for
improvement. If you would like to read the full report
to the Board of Trustees it is available on the Parent Information
Board outside the staffroom.
We will also begin the first year of the New Zealand Curriculum
development and continue our work in developing Inquiry Learning.
