Crescent School has four school priorities - literacy, numeracy,
information communications technologies and providing opportunities
for regular physical activity.
We encourage students to make the most of the many sporting
opportunities offered including cross country, swimming,
touch rugby, Unihoc, AFL training and lunchtime sport programmes.
Students are involved in a wide range of cultural activities
which include Kapa Haka, art exhibitions, choir performances
and visits from musicians and dancers. The school is
fully networked and we have a Multimedia Room which is located
next to the Library. Our students have many opportunities
to use ICT in their classroom programmes.
We use Circle Time as part of our behaviour management programme.
This programme focuses on expecting high standards of behaviour
from all students. Many of our Year 5 and Year 6 students
are Playground Friends. Playground Friends provide support
for other students in the school during play intervals.
New entrants are encouraged to visit prior to starting school
and parents/caregivers are asked to contact the school to
arrange an enrolment interview.
The special needs programmes which include those for gifted
and talented are well organised and are supported by a special
needs teacher and a management committee who meet regularly.
Our school is organised into two syndicates
• Years 0-3 :- Junior Syndicate
• Years 4-6 :- Senior Syndicate
The school day is divided into three blocks of time -8:55
- 10:40, 11:20 - 12:50 and 1:30 - 3:00. The students have
two supervised eating sessions and two 30 minute intervals
in which to play or participate in organised sports and/or
electives.
