SCHOOL'S PURPOSE
The purpose of Oxford Crescent School is to ensure
that all students are provided with an education which reflects
the New Zealand Curriculum. We work together to ensure that
this education will challenge students to strive to achieve
personal standards of excellence. We believe Oxford Crescent

SCHOOLS AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
At Oxford Crescent School we provide quality teaching and
learning programmes with particular emphasis on literacy,
numeracy, information communications technology and regular
physical activity.
We aim for high standards for all in terms of behaviour and
commitment to learning. We believe that this is best achieved
by providing.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The school has been extensively remodelled and is a very attractive,
purpose-built facility. The facilities include attractive
classrooms, a large library, a multimedia room, an arts room,
an after school care programme, hall and several small group
teaching spaces.
The school is presently involved in fundraising to upgrade
the school and swimming pool.
All classrooms have at least one computer and the computers
are networked. The school has a heated outdoor swimming pool
and extensive grounds which include two purpose-built playgrounds.
We have easy access to a wide range of community facilities
that are regularly used in our teaching programmes.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMES
At Oxford Crescent School we provide a wide range
of special programmes.
We have a Parent Tutors in Reading programme for those students
who require reading mileage and a Parent Tutors in Mathematics
programme for those students who need to learn their basic
facts.
We run a wide range of student support programmes which are
organised by the Special Needs teacher. We also provide extension
for gifted and talented students throughout the year.
We are committed to the concept of Taha Maori as a vital part
of our cultural heritage and therefore of the school curriculum.,
We offer Te Reo to all classes and extension classes to all
Maori students

PARENTS
Parents are a very important part of our school community
and are actively involved in tutoring programmes, school trips
and classroom activities.
Parents/caregivers who wish to help in our school can assist
in the classrooms if required, library, traffic patrols, parent
tutor programmes and are also invited to support outdoor education
programmes etc. Your assistance is valued and always appreciated.

VOLUNTARY RESOURCE FEES
The resource fee enables our school to purchase the
essential curriculum resources needed to provide quality learning
experiences for your child/ren.
Library books, computers, play and classroom equipment are
not provided for by the Ministry and we have limited opportunities
to fundraise for these resources. Please support us to upgrade
our resources by paying the voluntary resource fee. Our resource
fee for one year at Oxford Crescent School is:

The resource fee may also be paid by
instalments per term. It would be greatly appreciated if
the fees were paid when you child enrols at our school.

It is important that children develop punctual habits and
arrive at school on time. Supervision is provided from 8.30am
onwards.
Regular attendance is required by law. Parents/caregivers
are asked to contact the office by 9.30am if their child is
absent from school. All absences are checked each day and
we will endeavour to contact you if you have not already contacted
the school. Students who are late to school must report to
the office prior to class.
Once students are at school they are not permitted to leave
the school grounds without parental permission. A note should
be written for the class teacher. All students must sign out
in the Visitors/Students register at the school office and
must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver when they leave.
They must sign in on the Visitors/Students register when they
return.

ENROLMENT
Children may attend school when they have reached the age
of 5 years. In New Zealand it is compulsory for children to
attend having attained the age of six.
When enrolling a child for the first time parents/caregivers
are required to show a Birth Certificate or Passport (a photocopy
will be taken) and an Immunisation Certificate. At enrolment
the parent/caregiver will be given an enrolment form to complete.
Any health problems should be recorded on this form.
Prospective new entrants are encouraged to visit the New
Entrants classroom to help ensure a smooth transition to school.
The Deputy Principal arranges these visits with parents/caregivers.
