Sports and Physical Activity

Oxford Crescent School aim to provide quality, inclusive, accessible sporting opportunities for primary age children of all varying abilities, both within the school curriculum and outside the curriculum.

As a school we are committed to encouraging physical activity across the school. We have large playing fields, a cricket wicket, a softball net, a heated swimming pool which students use in Term 1 and 4 and a recently refurbished large hall.

Students are encouraged to move throughout the school day and we run a lunchtime sport programme. Students are also able to scooter and skateboard during breaks in designated areas.

We are engaged in Play.Sport which is a community based initiative to improve the quality and quantity of physical education, sport and physical activity in schools and communities. It is based on the needs of the school and gives us the opportunity to work with trained facilitators to develop opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of physical activity.

All school students are encouraged to participate in sport, achieve their potential and continue their involvement in sporting activities.  We welcome as much involvement from parents and caregivers as you can offer – contact the office or Courtney Binns if you feel you can help or support in any way!

Fitness and Physical Education

Students across the school are involved in regular daily fitness, such as running and Jump Jam. The focus for PE lessons usually coordinates with the timetable for the Upper Valley Primary School Sports Association. Students work to develop skills in the following areas: swimming, athletics, cross country, large and small ball skills (throwing, catching, striking), gymnastics. We link our STAR programme into all our sporting opportunites.
